    Ambassador Serema said, ladies and gentlemen, on 30 September 1966, the aspirations and dreams of the people of Botswana were realized and the Republic of Botswana was established. We not only showed our ancestors the impossible achievement and but also succeed in a place where the world thought it was impossible to succeed. Our efforts must now be focused on the transformation to a high-income country.

    Ambassador Serema continued that the friendship between Botswana and China dated back 48 years ago, when our two countries established diplomatic relations. This enduring partnership has opened up opportunities for high-level exchanges and people-to-people interactions. The vibrant Chinese community in Botswana is also a clear demonstration to the strength of our relationship. Through it all, our two countries continue to work together and cooperate comprehensively in different areas for the mutual benefit of our peoples.

He said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana on January 6, 1975, the two countries have exchanged frequent high-level visits, and under the personal promotion of the leaders of the two countries, the relationship between China and Botswana has always maintained a healthy and stable development.
