On October 4, 2023, President of Home and Abroad News Press Mrs. Wei Yan was invited by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho H.E. Dr. Kenneth Sentle Rabale, together with Ambassador of Benin to China H.E. Mr. Simon P. Adovelande, Ambassador of Mauritius to China H.E. Mr. Alain Wong Yen Cheong, Ambassador of Namibia to China H.E. Dr. Elia G. Kaiyamo, Ambassador of South Africa to China H.E. Mr. Siyabonga Cwele, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to China H.E. Dr. Martin Chedondo, Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Algeria in China and representatives of international organizations attended the 57th Anniversary National Day Reception of the Kingdom of Lesotho at the international ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel in Beijing. Deputy Director General of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Yu Yong also attended the event and delivered a speech.

莱索托王国驻华大使肯尼思•拉巴莱阁下致辞。他回顾了莱索托王国为争取独立做出的英勇斗争和近年来在经济、社会等方面取得的成就。并谈及莱中建交以来，莱索托王室一贯坚持一个中国立场，对中国怀有友好情谊，并为两国友好合作关系的健康发展不断做出的努力。肯尼思大使向中国政府为促进莱索托社会发展做出的贡献表示感谢。
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho H.E. Dr. Kenneth Sentle Rabale delivered a speech. He reviewed the Kingdom of Lesotho's heroic struggle for independence and its achievements in economic and social aspects in recent years. He also talked about the consistent adherence of the Royal Family of Lesotho to the One-China policy since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lesotho and China, its friendly relations with China, and its continuous efforts for the healthy development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. Ambassador Kenneth expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its contribution to the promotion of Lesotho's social development.

Ambassador Rabale said that 57 years ago, when our nation was freed from colonial slavery. It was the day that we remembered how hard we had to fight for autonomy. It was on that day that we remembered we became an independent nation. On the political development: Lesotho has evolved into a full-fledged member of the international community - a founding member of the Southern African Development Community and a member of the African Union and the United Nations. As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we are pleased to see the positive progress we have made with the assistance of our development partners.
中国外交部非洲司余勇副司长在会上致辞。他表示，感谢肯尼思大使对中莱两国友好关系所做的努力。中非是好朋友、好兄弟、好伙伴，加强中非团结合作符合双方人民的根本和长远利益，中方愿继续推动共建一带一路合作全球发展倡议，同非盟2063年议程以及非洲各国发展战略深度对接，支持非洲实现经济复苏和可持续发展，推动构建新时代中非共同体，并更多地惠及双方人民。
Deputy Director General of the Africa Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Yu Yong also delivered a congratulation speech. He said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's policy philosophy towards Africa. This month, the third Belt and Road Summit Forum for International Cooperation will be held in Beijing. Next year, we will host a meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in China, and these events will surely connect with China and African developing countries even more closely and write a new chapter of common development.
