Mr. Kojo Bonsu, President Wei Yan of Home and Abroad News Press attended the Ghana’s 69th National Day Reception at the International Banquet Hall of the China World Hotel in Beijing with many ambassadors and heads of international organizations. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Miao Deyu attended the reception as special guest of honor.

At 7:00 PM, the national anthems of the Republic of Ghana and the People's Republic of China were played in the venue. A national promotional video of Ghana was repeatedly displayed on the screen. Ghana will continue to adhere to the One-China principle, actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote the steady development of Ghana-China relations for the greater benefit of the peoples of both countries. Ghana has rapidly emerged as one of Africa’s most politically stable and economically developed nations.

Ambassador Kojo Bonsu spoke highly of the development of bilateral relations and the achievements in cooperation across various fields between the two countries. He stated that the friendship between Ghana and China has stood the test of time, with both sides supporting each other on issues concerning their respective core interests. Ghana is willing to continue pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation with China and advance bilateral relations to a higher level.

Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, reviewed Ghana’s development over the 69 years since independence, paid tribute to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision of liberation, and emphasized that Ghana’s independence has always been closely linked to the liberation and prosperity of the African continent. Ambassador Bonsu highlighted President Mahama’s “Accra Restart Plan” and elaborated on its core initiative, the “24-Hour Economy” policy. He noted that this policy will drive a productivity revolution, create a large number of jobs, help Ghana shift from a cycle of speculation to a cycle of production, and inject strong momentum into the country’s economic recovery.

Ambassador Bonsu noted that Ghana is about to conclude an “early harvest arrangement” with China, under which Ghanaian high-quality products such as cocoa and shea butter will enter the Chinese market duty-free. He also welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest in Ghana and, leveraging Ghana’s role as the secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area, to expand into the vast African market.

Vice Minister Miao Deyu of Foreign Affairs of China, delivered a congratulatory address marking the 69th anniversary of Ghana’s independence. He noted that Ghana was one of the first countries in sub-Saharan Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China, and that the two nations share a deep-rooted traditional friendship. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, practical cooperation across various fields has yielded fruitful results. China is willing to work with Ghana to successfully organize the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, and promote the joint modernization of China and Africa.

The ambassadors are looking forward to the next trip!
