Mr. Gerhard Heiberg, the Executive Member of the IOC and Chairman of the Marketing Committee met with Wei Yan, the Chief Editor of the Home and Abroad News Press and her party in Beijing on Apr 12th. Mr. Gerhard Heiberg said that the Organizing Committee for The Olympic Games’ duty is to promote the world peace and build a better and more peaceful world through sports. Sports can unite the people from different countries, different races and different faiths together. Peace, friendship and progress have always been the purposes of the International Olympic Committee.
Mrs. Wei Yan said that Home and Abroad News Press set an example in strengthening international cooperation and promoting the development of the world sports by utilizing advanced international media platforms. She shared the company’s sponsorships and selfless assistance to Mozambique Olympic Delegations for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2010 Singapore First World Youth Games. Since Home and Abroad News Press was found in 11 years ago, it plays important role not only in the global community, but also in the famous international events, such as the Beijing Olympic Games. Mr. Heiberg said that the Marketing Committee of International Olympic Committee is mainly responsible for the funds from the incomes and expenditures of Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games. The Marketing Committee of IOC is organized by 204 countries, and the Committee will fund the money to the member states for developing their sports industry. The income is from the Olympic Games’ television broadcast rights and many international sponsors.
Mr. Heiberg also happily recalled the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. He said the Olympic Games held in China were the greatest Olympic Games by far. Not only the Chinese people but many countries of the world, as well as the International Olympic Committee received great benefits from it.
Mrs. Wei asked Mr. Heiberg about his expectations for the upcoming London Olympic Games in 2012. Mr. Heiberg said he believed that the London Olympic Games would be also a successful sports event and will certainly strengthen the friendship and solidarity among the athletes from different countries and enhancing the mutual understandings between the people all around the world and finally promote world peace and the world’s sports.
