July 17th, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Brazilian President DilmaRousseffin Brasilia. The two presidents reviewedthe 40 years of successful experiencesince the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. They decided to carry on the traditions, plan for the future development of bilateral relations through multi-level cooperation, mutual development and comprehensive strategic partnerships between the two countries.
Before the meeting, PresidentRousseff held a grand welcome ceremony for Xi Jinping at the Presidential Palace.
PresidentRousseff warmly welcomed President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Brazil. She stressed that the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations is an important milestone and special occasion for Xi’s visit to Brazil. This high level exchange will surely improve the comprehensive strategic partnership between Brazil and China and create deep impacts in the future bilateral relationships.
President Xi pointed out that China and Brazil established diplomatic relations 40 years ago, both countries worked together sincerely based on the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit, mutual cooperation, and mutual learning for promoting the long-term and stable friendshipto a new level. The two countries were able to reach a high level in political and strategic mutual trust as well as develop unprecedented closeness with common goals. At present, the international society is undergoing complex and profound changes, emerging market countriesare facing many opportunities and challenges at the same time. China and Brazil should strengthen exchanges and cooperation, deepen strategic cooperation and jointly create a favorable external environment to promote and develop the economies, to safeguard the common interests of developing countries and to promote international power toward a more balanced direction for maintaining world prosperity and stability.
PresidentRousseff said that Brazil and China are the largest developing countries in the world, the two countries share identical views on many strategic issues. Brazil and China are building up closer relationship with unprecedented speed and quality. Both countries enjoy political, economic, investment partnerships with each other. Brazil is advancing its reformation. China’s “Two One-Hundred Year” goals are very impressive, which directly contribute to better living status for the 1.3 billion Chinese people. Brazil congratulated on China’s great success.
The two leaders also made positive comments on the Sixth BRIC Meeting. They thought that the establishment of the BRICS Development Bank and the contingency reserve arrangements for improving global governance will have profound influence on creating an equitable international economy and stable financial orders. Brazil and China will continue to work together to promote the BRIC countries and other developing countries to strengthen unity and cooperation.
After the talks, the two countries issued a “Joint Declaration on Further Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Brazil”.
