    I wish to start by expressing deep gratitude for honoring me to be amongst the awarded “Home and Abroad News Press- the News Person of the Year” for the year 2023. I also wish Home and Abroad News Press a happy 22nd birthday, and look ahead for more successful presence locally and internationally of its needed none waning efforts in promoting China and Chinese friendship with other countries. Home and Abroad News Press stands as a distinct voice of truth bridging the hallowing gap of information.
    首先，我谨对获得 2023 年 "中外新闻社年度新闻人物 "殊荣深表感谢，同时，我也祝愿中外新闻社22岁生日快乐，并期待中外新闻社在推广中国和中国与其他国家的友谊方面所做的不懈努力在海内外取得更大的成功。中外新闻社作为一个独特之声，在信息的鸿沟中架起了一座真理的桥梁。
    In terms of geography, Damascus and Beijing bracket the whole Asian space, but distance was never a barrier between the two peoples and civilizations. Some of the oldest cloths of silk discovered in Palmyra and date back to the second century B.C. are exhibited in the Ningxia Museum nowadays, amongst about 200 archaeological pieces covering the long span of Syrian history. The first Church to establish itself in China was the Syrian church dating back to the sixth century. This year Syria joined as a founding member to the Asian Alliance for Cultural Heritage Conservation, a key Asian framework on collaborative protection of cultural heritage promoting dialogue among various civilizations.
    在地理上，大马士革和北京横跨整个亚洲，但距离从来不是两国人民和文明之间的障碍。如今，宁夏博物馆展出了在巴尔米拉发现的一些最古老的丝绸布匹，其年代可追溯到公元前二世纪，与大约 200 件考古文物一起，涵盖了叙利亚漫长的历史跨度。最早在中国建立教会的是叙利亚教会，其历史可追溯到六世纪。今年，叙利亚以创始成员的身份加入了亚洲文化遗产保护联盟，这是一个重要的亚洲合作框架致力于保护文化遗迹和促进各种文明之间的对话。
    The tested all-weather friendship between the two countries outstood the hardships of times. While I express condolences and sympathy for the bereaved in Gansu and Qinghai, I also cannot forget the flow of sympathy and support the Syrian Embassy received from the Chinese Government and people in the wake of the 6th February earthquake that hit some Syrian cities in high manifestation of friendship in dire times. 两国之间久经考验的全天候友谊经受住了时代的考验。我在向甘肃和青海的遇难者表示哀悼和慰问的同时，也不能忘记 2 月 6 日叙利亚部分城市发生地震后，中国政府和人民给予叙利亚大使馆的慰问和支持，这充分体现了患难见真情的友谊。
    In fact this year has been a landmark in the bilateral relations with the presidential visit of H.E. Bashar al-Assad and the First Lady Asma al-Assad in September to Hangzhou and Beijing. The two countries announced Strategic Partnership and signed other agreements that practically further deepen the friendly relations and consolidate the “Look East” policy launched by the President in 2004 that builds on the historical ties between Syria and Asian countries, economically and culturally, and enhances connectivity between peoples that have accumulated over the ages, and integrates Syria into the Asian renaissance with all its aspects.
    事实上，今年是双边关系的一个里程碑，巴沙尔-阿萨德阁下和第一夫人阿斯玛-阿萨德于 9 月对杭州和北京进行了总统访问。两国宣布建立战略伙伴关系并签署了其他协议，这实际上进一步深化了友好关系，巩固了总统于 2004 年提出的 "向东看 "政策，该政策建立在叙利亚与亚洲各国在经济和文化方面的历史联系基础之上，加强了各国人民之间长期积累的联系，使叙利亚全面融入亚洲复兴。
    On the political level, the official meetings with H.E. President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and with Mr. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, witnessed congruence in views on the unprecedented international changes, as well as in aspirations towards a long-awaited more representative global order.
    在政治层面，与习近平主席阁下、李强总理和全国人民代表大会常务委员会委员长赵乐际先生的正式会晤见证了对前所未有的国际变化的一致看法，以及对期待已久的更具代表性的全球秩序的渴望。
    President al-Assad explained Syria’s support of the Chinese initiatives on Global Development, Global Security, and Global Civilizations, as they reflect the aspirations of all the peoples of the world who seek development and peace; built on moral and ethical foundations; envisioning a human society that shares a common future, and together face the current and future challenges in non-hegemonic terms.
    阿萨德总统解释说，叙利亚支持中国关于全球发展、全球安全和全球文明的倡议，因为这些倡议反映了世界各国人民寻求发展与和平的愿望；这些倡议建立在道德和伦理基础之上；设想人类社会拥有共同的未来，并以非霸权的方式共同面对当前和未来的挑战。
    Syria became a partner within the Belt and Road Initiative in 2022. We look forward for participation of Chinese companies in the reconstruction process in Syria.
    叙利亚于 2022 年成为 "一带一路 "倡议的合作伙伴。我们期待中国企业参与叙利亚的重建进程。
    China provides many success stories for the developing world to learn from in governance, eradicating poverty, scientific advancement as well as harmony between man and nature, to name a few. Many of these fields have been stressed during the Presidential visit.
    中国在国家治理、消除贫困、科学进步以及人与自然和谐相处等方面为发展中世界提供了许多值得学习的成功案例。主席访问期间强调了其中的许多领域。
    The award is given thanks to the opportunity availed to us by Chinese media outlets.
