2011年新年的钟声敲响，美丽的枫叶之国加拿大又迎来了一桩盛事：1月21日，“加拿大杰出华商颁奖典礼暨新年庆祝晚宴”在万锦市希尔顿大酒店宴会大厅隆重举行，加拿大联邦总理哈珀、加拿大联邦环境部长Peter Kent，联邦国际贸易部长Van Loan ，安省旅游及文化厅长陈国治，安省厅长菲腊士，联邦国会议员詹嘉礼、密西沙加市市长麦考莲等加拿大多个城市市长及中国驻加拿大大使章均赛、中国驻多伦多总领事陈立钢，副总领事张美芳等和获奖者共700多位嘉宾出席晚会，本刊驻加拿大分社记者现场采访。
At the beginning of 2011, a New Year event was held in Toronto, Canada, the country of the maple leaf. On January 21st, “The 6th Chinese Business Excellence Awards and New Year Celebration Gala” was held successfully at Hilton Hotel in Markham. Over 700 guests, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Minister of Environment Peter Kent, Minster of International Trade Peter Van Loan, Ontario Minister of Culture and Tourism Chen Guozhi, Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament Gerry Phillips, Member of Parliament Jim Karygiannis, Mayor of Mississauga Hazel McCallion, Mayors of many other cities, Chinese Ambassador to Canada Zhang Junsai, Chinese Consul General Chen Ligang, Chinese Vice Consul General Zhang Meifang, as well as award winners, attended the event. 杰出华商奖是加拿大最有影响力的华商大型颁奖活动之一，由加拿大中华商会主办、加中市场发展联合会协办举办，每年一届，此次为第六届。它是以中国华商为主，展示在加拿大的创业精神、创业理念、发掘创业机会的年度盛会。长期以来，一代又一代华侨华人在加拿大艰苦奋斗、创基立业，为加拿大国的稳定与繁荣，为加拿大与中国关系的友好交流和发展作出了重要贡献。
The Chinese Business Excellence Awards hosted by the Chinese Business Chamber of Canada and associated by Federation of Chinese-Canadian Business Marketing Association, is one of the most important award ceremonies of Chinese Business Awards in Canada. The ceremony is an annual event and this was the 6th session. This award is mainly for Chinese entrepreneurs, to promote their spirits, philosophies and efforts for starting their business in Canada. Chinese have been working hard and perseveringly in Canada from generation to generation for many years. They have made great contribution to the prosperity and stability of Canada, as well as the friendly relations between Canada and China.
当晚七时左右，晚会现场高朋满座，精英汇聚，气氛热烈。哈珀总理一行在中国腰鼓队的引领下，走向前台，会场欢声雷动，随后，哈珀总理致辞。他对华商在加拿大多年来的贡献表示赞赏，并祝贺加国华人春节快乐健康。哈珀在发言中还强调了中小企业对加拿大经济发展的重要性，回顾了过去一年加中关系发展所取得的成就，并希望加中通过深入合作，让两国关系更上一层楼。哈珀说：“我们共同的目标是，如果我们投入更大的热情和努力，加中两国关系必将在未来得到可持续的发展。”
The banquet hall was filled with distinguished guests that night. Led by gong and drum team, Prime Minister Stephen Harper went to the stage and delivered an address. He expressed appreciation for the contribution of Chinese entrepreneurs in Canada and wished Chinese in Canada Happy New Year. Mr. Harper also emphasized the important role of medium and small business in the economic development of Canada. He reviewed the achievement in the relations between China and Canada in 2010, and expressed the wish of enhancing China-Canada relations through deep cooperation. “The common objective of China and Canada is to develop the relations between the two countries continuously, with more passions and efforts.”
中国驻加拿大大使章均赛在会上发表讲话，他指出，近年来中加两国关系发展良好，哈珀总理2009年12月访华，胡锦涛主席2010年6月对加进行国事访问，推动两国关系进入新的发展阶段。中国已成为加拿大第二大贸易伙伴、第二大进口来源地和第三大出口市场，两国未来将有更多合作契机。
Chinese Ambassador to Canada Zhang Junsai gave a speech in the event. He pointed out that the relationship between Canada and China has been developed smoothly in recent years. Prime Minister Stephen Harper paid an official visit to China in December 2009. Chinese President Hu Jintao made a state visit to Canada in June 2010. The relation between two counties has been improved to a new stage. China is Canada’s second largest trade partner, second largest importer and third largest exporter. There will be more cooperation opportunities for China and Canada.

颁奖晚会上，王府井开发集团董事局主席王文一获得2010年“风云人物”奖，天星自助餐东主胡卫强获得“效益提高奖”，加拿大清洁技术投资公司(Canada Clean Tech Capital Inc.)董事局主席汤友志博士获得“加中低碳国际发展奖”，德明会计师事务所沈浩获得“社会影响奖”，中医师吴本俊获得“创业精神奖”，金山国际(Goldenmount Capital International Inc.)总裁郭健获得“新生意奖”，白色羽毛公司董事长高雪清获得“学生创业奖”，安省华人旅游同业协会获得“加中文化旅游交流贡献奖”，加拿大出口发展局(Export Development Canada)前任总裁兼首席执行官Eric Siegel获得“终身成就奖”，海南航空获得“最佳市场发展奖”。
Alvin Wang from King Square Ltd was honored as “Person of the Year in Chinese Business”, Tony WK Woo from Star Walk Buffet won the Most-Improved entrepreneur Award, Dr. Youzhi Tang from Canada Clean Tech Capital Inc. was the winner of Low-Carbon International Development Award, Howard Shen got the Social and Community Contribution Award, Ben Jun Wu from Benjamin Balance Treatreant Centre Inc. won the Entrepreneurship Award, Bob Guo from Goldenmount Capital International Inc. got the Overseas Business Development Award, James Gao from White feather was bestowed the New Business & International Student Business Award, Ontario Chinese Inbound Tourism Operators Association won the Canada-China Tourism and Cultural Exchange Award, Former President and CEO of Export Development Canada Eric Siegel was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Hainan Airlines was named for the Best Market Development Award.
本刊记者现场采访时看到，华商经济不仅成为加国国家经济的中流砥柱，也为加国经济的发展注入了活力。哈珀总理与多位部长的出席，体现了加拿大政府对中国的重视、对华商的重视。获奖华商在接受本刊记者采访时表示：随着加拿大华人的社会地位越来越高，我们将更有责任把加拿大开放的胸襟介绍到全中国，让更多的华商投资加国，促进中加两国的经济发展。
From this event, we found out that Chinese enterprises in Canada play an important role in Canadian economic development process and inject fresh vigor into Canada’s economy. The attendance of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and many ministers shows that Canada government has been attaching great importance to Chinese entrepreneurs and China. “Chinese in Canada are becoming increasingly important. We have the responsibility to introduce the open spirit of Canada to China, to attract more Chinese to invest in Canada, and improve the economic development of both Canada and China”, award winners said during our interview.
