January 9th, Chinese President Hu Jintao held a welcoming ceremony at the People’s Great Conference Hall for South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's visit to China. The two leaders also jointly hosted a meeting to exchange views on the bilateral relations and regional and international issues, shared common concerns and reached important consensus at the end of the meeting.
胡锦涛表示，中韩建交２０年，特别是两国建立战略合作伙伴关系以来，双边关系不断向前发展。双方在政治、经贸、人文等领域的交流合作不断扩大，在国际和地区事务中也保持良好的沟通和协调。韩国政府坚持一个中国政策，在台湾等问题上给予中方理解和支持。我们对此表示赞赏。
President Hu said that “Since China and South Korea established diplomatic relations 20 years, the two countries developed strategic partnership and the bilateral relations firmly moved forward. Both countries expanded exchanges and cooperation in political, economic, cultural and other fields and maintained good communication and coordination in international and regional affairs. South Korean government upholds the “One China Policy” and supports China on the Taiwan issue. We greatly appreciate that.”
李明博表示，今年是韩中关系具有重要意义的一年。建交２０年来，两国关系取得巨大发展，各领域合作日益密切。特别是建立战略合作伙伴关系以来，两国关系的深度和广度不断拓展，韩方对两国关系的发展给予高度评价。
President Lee said that “This year is a very important year for South Korea and China’s diplomatic relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 20 years ago, the bilateral relations have made remarkable progress; the increasingly close cooperation was developed in various fields. Especially since the establishment of strategic partnership, the two countries have deepened the relationship greatly. South Korean highly values the progress of the harmonious bilateral relations.”
胡锦涛表示，今年是中韩建交２０周年暨“中韩友好交流年”，中方愿与韩方一道，以此为新的起点，保持高层交往，加深政治互信，加强政府、议会、政党的对话交流，妥善处理有关敏感问题，维护两国关系发展大局。双方要挖掘合作潜力，提高合作水平，扩大贸易、节能环保、高新技术、金融、物流、电子商务等领域的合作，为实现２０１５年双边贸易额达到３０００亿美元的目标而共同努力。
Hu Jintao further expressed that this year is the 20th anniversary of China and South Korea establishing diplomatic relations and “The Friendship Year between China and South Korea”. China is willing to work with South Korea together to set up a new starting point, deepen high-level exchanges, enhance mutual political trust, strengthen dialogue between governments, parliaments and political parties, and properly handle relevant sensitive issues to maintain harmonious relations between the two countries. Both countries will discover more potentials for cooperation in international trade, energy saving, environmental protection, high-tech, finance, logistics, e-commerce and other sectors. The goal is to achieve bilateral trade volume over $300 billion by 2015.
胡锦涛表示，我们欢迎韩方企业积极参与中国经济结构调整和产业升级，加大对中国的投资，也希望韩方为中国企业赴韩国投资提供更多便利和支持。中方愿同韩方加强文化、教育、体育、旅游等领域的交流，支持两国地方省市、民间团体、新闻媒体、青少年的交流互访。
Hu Jintao continued that we welcome South Korean enterprises to actively participate in China's economic restructuring and industrial upgrading through direct investments in China, we also hope South Korea will provide more convenience and support for Chinese enterprises to invest in the country. China is ready to work with South Korea for strengthening exchanges in various fields, including culture, education, sports, tourism through frequent exchange visits between the provinces and cities of the two countries as well as the civil level interactions.
李明博完全赞同胡锦涛关于进一步发展两国关系的重要意见。他表示，韩中关系已经成为韩国最重要的对外关系之一。韩方高兴地看到，双方各领域交流与合作不断扩大，两国已经提前实现双边贸易额达到２０００亿美元的目标，去年两国人员交流已经达６５０万人次。希望以两国建交２０周年为新的起点，发展更加密切的韩中战略合作伙伴关系。韩方愿同中方共同努力，进一步加强经贸、能源、新能源、环保、金融、旅游、人文等领域合作以及在国际和地区问题上的磋商与协调，推动两国关系向更高层次发展。在台湾等问题上，韩方将一如既往坚持一个中国原则。
President Lee fully agreed with Hu Jintao's views on the further development of bilateral relations. He said that the relation between China has become one of the South Korea's most important foreign relationships. The two countries have reached the target of the bilateral trade volume over $200 billion last year and more than 6.5 million people visited the other country in total. I hope the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with China will provide a new starting point and further promote the strategic partnership of the two countries. South Korea is willing to make joint efforts with China to further develop the bilateral relationships.
关于朝鲜半岛局势，胡锦涛表示，维护半岛和平稳定符合各方利益。我们愿同各方加强沟通协调，继续为此作出不懈努力。希望各方多做有利于维护和促进半岛和平稳定的事情。中方将一如既往支持南北双方通过对话改善关系，推进和解合作进程。
Regarding to the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Hu said that maintaining the stability in the region will benefit all parties. We are willing to strengthen communication and continue to make unremitting efforts to ensure the peace in the region. China will always support South Korea and North Korea to improve the relations through dialogue and reconciliation and cooperation process.
李明博表示，实现朝鲜半岛无核化，维护半岛和平稳定，是韩中两国的共同目标。韩方赞赏中方为此作出的巨大努力，期待中方继续发挥积极作用。
President Lee expressed that to achieve the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, to maintain regional peace and stability are the common goals of South Korea and China. South Korea greatly appreciated China for making efforts and playing an active role in these foreign affairs.
访问期间，全国人大常委会委员长吴邦国、国务院总理温家宝分别会见了李明博。中韩发布了联合新闻公报。
During the visit, the Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Mr. Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao met with President Lee Myung-bak separately. China and South Korea issued a joint press release.
