比利时王国位于欧洲西部，是19世纪初欧洲大陆最早进行工业革命的国家之一，无论是地理上还是文化上，都处于欧洲的十字路口，国际组织总部的“根据地”，包括欧盟总部、北约总部等都设在比利时。1月26日上午，比利时王国驻广州总领事邵德辉接受中外新闻社小记者专访。在邵德辉眼中，“广州是一个活力、开放、绿色的城市”，他期望在4年任期内，着力促进比利时和广州携手优化城市生态品质。
The Kingdom of Belgium is located in the western part of Europe. It is one of the earliest European industrial revolution countries in the early 19th century. It is geographically and culturally at the crossroads of Europe, and it is considered as the "base" of many international organization, including the EU and NATO headquarters. On the morning of January 26th, the Belgian Consul General in Guangzhou,Mr. Joris Salden accepted the interview request by our junior journalists. In his opinions, Guangzhou is a vibrant, open and green city. He expected that in his four-year term in Guangzhou, he will make efforts to promote Belgium and Guangzhou’s urban ecological quality.

“邵德辉总领事你好！你曾毕业于比利时一流学府--鲁汶大学，获得拉丁文学硕士，并主修19世纪法国文学，熟练掌握荷兰语、法语、英语、意大利语、德语、土耳其语等多国语言。你的外交资历让我们钦佩。你是为促进中比两国的友好关系而来。请问：你如何在总领事任职期间为促进两国青少年的交流贡献自己的智慧和力量？谢谢！”
“Hello, Consul General Mr. Joris Salden. You have graduated from the University of Leuven, a leading Belgian university with a Master of Latin Arts degree and majoring in 19th-century French literature. You are fully multilingual, including Dutch, French, English, Italian, German, Turkish and other languages. Your diplomatic background really impressed us. You came to China to promote China and Belgium’s friendship. How will you promote the youth exchanges between the two countries and contribute your wisdom and competence to the bilateral relationship during your term here as the Belgian Consul General in Guangzhou?”

“比利时首相米歇尔应中国国务院总理李克强邀请，于2016年10月30日至11月1日对中国进行正式访问。上一年，中国国家主席习近平也访问比利时，两国元首互访，加强比利时和中国的双边关系。我是为促进中比两国的友好关系而来。广州--珠三角的战略地位，一直是一个开放的城市，是西方了解中国的窗口。未来4年任职期间，为促进比中两国青少年的交流贡献自己的智慧和力量。2016年12月，我们已经和广州图书馆合作开放了一个比利时文学区。这只是一个开始，我们和中山大学还有合作。” 邵德辉总领事说。
“Invited by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang,Belgian Prime Minister Michelle paid an official visit to China from October 30 to November 1, 2016. Last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping also visited Belgium. The frequent exchanged visits between the two heads of states strongly promoted the friendly relations between China and Belgium. Guangzhou is located in the strategic position of Pearl River Delta, and it is an open city and a display window of Chinese culture to the West. In the next four years, I will contribute more of my wisdom and efforts to promote youth exchanges between China and Belgian. In December 2016, we already setup a Belgian Literature Zone in the Guangzhou Library. This is a good start. We will also collaborate with Zhongshan University.” Consul General Joris Salden answered.

有小记者问：“邵德辉总领事你好！提起比利时，我们会想到巧克力、华夫饼、丁丁历险记、蓝精灵……那么请问：提到中国，你会想到什么？谢谢！”
A junior journalist asked: “When we are talking about Belgium, we will usually think of chocolate, waffles, Tintin and Smurfs…... We want to ask you: if you are talking about China, what are the things in your mind? Thank you!”

邵德辉总领事谈到，我是学习历史的，也喜欢历史，所以我喜欢从历史的角度去看一个国家、一个城市，如果能将广州与它深厚丰富的历史联系在一起推广，将更有助于广州提升自己的城市品牌。提到中国、提到广东，我会想到北京长城、紫禁城、广东点心，里面有海鲜的那种。这里有许多欧洲没有的蔬菜和水果，这里的菜比国外的中餐馆好吃多了。

Consul General Joris Saldensaid that I studied history and really enjoying learning about history. Therefore, I always look at a city or country from its historical point of view. If we could promote Guangzhou’s rich history with its modern qualities, the city could enhance its own city brand. Referring to China and Guangdong, I would think of Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Guangdong dim sum and such. Here are many vegetables and fruits that you can’t find in Europe. Also, the food here is much better than the Chinese restaurants in Europe.”

“邵德辉总领事你好！我们在网上看到，比利时是一幅美丽的画卷：古城堡、现代都市、自然风光……应有尽有，如果我们选择到比利时旅游，请问什么季节去更加能感受到比利时的神奇和美丽？谢谢！”小记者问。
“Hello, Consul General Mr. Joris Salden. From the internet, we learnt that Belgium is like a beautiful painting picture: ancient castle, modern city, natural scenery and other breath-taking sceneries. If we want to go to Belgium for a visit, what is the best season to go to feel Belgium’s mystery and charm?” another journalist asked.

“比利时一年四季都可以去旅游，最佳的旅行季节应该是从春末到秋初这段时间，即每年的5月至9月。夏天是最宜人的旅游季节，可以来这里避暑。比利时是一幅展开的画卷，要领略比利时的风采，需要一点耐心慢慢走遍。”说完，邵德辉总领事拿着一本画册，向小记者们一一介绍比利时的比利时的神奇和美丽，令小记者们大开眼界。
“You can visit Belgium all year round, and the best travel season should be from late spring to early fall around May to September. Summer is the most pleasant tourist season, you can cool yourself here during the hot summer time. Belgium is a picture with many wonderful and beautiful details, you have to take your time to see and experience its beauty.” Consul General Mr. Joris Salden took a picture book to show the junior journalists and introduced Belgium's wonders and beauty to open their eyes.
