It is a great honor for me to join you all at this auspicious moment of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new, to celebrate the 24th anniversary of Home and Abroad News Press.
非常荣幸我能够在这样一个辞旧迎新的美好时刻同大家一起, 共同庆祝中外新闻社成立24周年的庆典。
I arrived in China two years and two months ago to assume my duties as Ambassador of Timor-Leste to China. Throughout these two years, I have received tremendous support from the Chinese government and people, which has enabled my work to proceed very smoothly. Today, receiving the “News Person of the Year” award Home and Abroad News Press is not only a recognition of my personal efforts, but also an acknowledgment of my embassy and all those who have assisted me.
我是两年零两个月前来到中国就任东帝汶驻华大使, 在这两年的过程当中我得到了很多中国政府和中国人民的帮助, 使得我的工作非常的顺利。今天能够获得中外新闻社“年度新闻人物”奖项, 不仅是对我个人的认可, 也是对于我的使馆, 还有所有帮助过我的人的认可。
This year marks a significant milestone for Timor-Leste as we become the 11th member state of ASEAN. This achievement would not have been possible without China's steadfast support for Timor-Leste. Over the past two years, China and Timor-Leste have established direct flights, and people-to-people exchanges have grown steadily. Cooperation in medical technology and tourism has also seen continuous advancement.
今年, 对于东帝汶来说, 是一个非常重要的节点, 因为我们成为东盟的第11个成员国, 这样的成就离不开中国对东帝汶的支持。在过去的两年当中, 中国和东帝汶实现了直航, 人文之间的交流也日益增长。医学科技旅游方面也不断的提升。
We hope more Chinese businesspeople will come to Timor-Leste for investment and exploration, thereby enhancing economic and trade exchanges between our two countries.
我们希望有更多的中国商人能够到东帝汶投资考察, 增加两国之间的经贸往来。
I also extend my warmest congratulations to Home and Abroad News Press on its achievements over the past 24 years and express my gratitude for its efforts in promoting international cooperation and friendship. As Timor-Leste's Ambassador to China, I look forward to working with Home and Abroad News Press to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

As an ASEAN member state, Timor-Leste stands to attract increased domestic and foreign investment. On one hand, other ASEAN member countries may boost their direct investment in Timor-Leste, fostering the development of its infrastructure, manufacturing, and service industries. On the other hand, Timor-Leste will be better positioned to attract investment from various nations, thereby enhancing its economic competitiveness.
作为东盟成员国, 东帝汶就有望吸引更多的国内外投资。一方面, 东盟内部的其他国家可能会增加对东帝汶的直接投资, 促进其基础设施建设、制造业和服务业等产业的发展; 另一方面, 东帝汶也能更好地吸引来自各国对东帝汶的投资, 提升自身的经济竞争力。
90% of Timor-Leste's GDP comes from oil and natural gas, with abundant coastlines and fisheries resources. Timor-Leste maintains ultra-low tariff agreements with Australia and the European Union, enabling its products to enter these markets with exceptional competitiveness. Following its ASEAN accession, the country will also make rapid growth with those duty-free agreements. Timor-Leste also possesses abundant mineral resources, including marble, gold, copper, and manganese, alongside significant tourism potential. The country eagerly anticipates investment and development from Chinese investors.
东帝汶90%的GDP来自于石油和天然气, 有着丰富的海岸线和渔业资源。东帝汶和澳大利亚以及欧盟有极低的关税协议, 使其产品能够极具竞争力的进入澳大利亚和欧盟市场。在加入东盟之后, 也会因为东盟内部的免税协议得到蓬勃的发展。东帝汶也有丰富的矿产资源, 包括大理石, 黄金, 铜矿和锰矿等等, 也有很丰富的旅游资源, 期待着中国投资者对东帝汶的投资和开发。
Since establishing diplomatic relations, China and Timor-Leste have consistently treated each other with mutual respect and equality, serving as a model of solidarity and cooperation between nations of different sizes. As China's national strength grows, an increasing number of Timorese scholars are focusing on Sinology research, and Chinese language education is receiving greater attention in Timor-Leste. The Confucius Institute aims to enhance the Timorese people's understanding of Chinese language and culture, while advancing educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between our two nations. Timor-Leste stands ready to strengthen collaboration with China, pursue shared development, and jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for Asia, for the benefit of our peoples and the region.
建交以来, 中国与东帝汶始终相互尊重、平等相待, 是大小国家团结合作的典范。随着中国国力的增强, 东帝汶越来越多的学者注重对中国学的研究, 汉语教育在东帝汶受到了越来越多的重视。孔子学院旨在促进东帝汶人民对中国语言文化的了解, 推动两国教育合作和人文交流。东帝汶愿同中国一道, 加强合作, 共谋发展, 共同推动构建亚洲命运共同体, 造福两国人民和地区国家。
In recent years, China and Timor-Leste have maintained steady and healthy development in their economic and trade relations, with practical cooperation across various fields yielding positive results. The environmental protection equipment delivered by China includes compressed garbage trucks, hook-arm trucks, street sweepers, water sprinklers, and hook-arm containers. Once fully operational, these vehicles will significantly enhance the environmental management standards and quality of Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste. They will continuously improve comprehensive service capabilities, support the implementation of global environmental protection projects, and contribute to the green and sustainable urban operations of Timor-Leste.
近年来, 中国与东帝汶双方经贸关系保持平稳健康发展, 各领域务实合作取得了积极成效。中国交付的环保装备涵盖压缩式垃圾车、钩臂车、扫路车、洒水车、勾臂箱等, 全面投入使用后将有效提升东帝汶首都帝力市的环保作业水平与质量, 不断提升综合服务能力, 助力全球环保项目开展, 为东帝汶绿色环保的城市运营做出贡献。
As the recipient of the 2025 “Home and Abroad News Press-News Person of the Year” Award, I am deeply honored to participate in this grand event and deliver this speech. As we approach the New Year of 2026, I extend my heartfelt wishes for everyone to enjoy robust health and thriving careers in the coming year.
