It is with immense pride that I participate in the 24th Home and Abroad News Press Awards Ceremony, a landmark event that celebrates the press, diplomacy, and cooperation between nations.
我怀着无比自豪的心情参加第24届中外新闻社颁奖典礼，这场盛会旨在颂扬新闻事业、外交成就以及各国间的合作。
I would like to thank Home and Abroad News Press for naming me “News Person of the Year 2025” and for giving me this opportunity to share with you the story of cooperation between Cape Verde and China.
感谢中外新闻社授予我“2025年度新闻人物”殊荣，并让我有机会与各位分享佛得角与中国合作的历程。
As a representative of the Cape Verdean government and people, I thank the Chinese people and government, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, for strengthening the friendship and cooperation between our nations. Cape Verde attaches great importance to dialogue, diversity, and solidarity, which are the pillars of its foreign policy and shared prosperity with Africa and China.

This award confirms above all that the press can catalyze dialogue, understanding, and cooperation. It also recognizes the partnership between Cape Verde and China, which has enabled significant progress in priority areas of our development.

In 2026, Cape Verde and China will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations based on friendship, respect for sovereignty, and mutual interest. We have promoted concrete cooperation in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, and security.
2026年，佛得角和中国将庆祝建交50周年，两国关系建立在友谊、尊重主权和互利基础上。我们在卫生、教育、基础设施和安全领域开展了务实合作。
Since 2018, we have been participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, with China's support for the sustainability of the São Vicente Maritime Special Economic Zone. We are open to investments in connectivity, renewable energy, the digital economy, and tourism. The blue economy offers opportunities to enhance the value of our sea through technology transfer, marine resource management, and the creation of skilled jobs.
自2018年以来，我们在中国支持下参与了“一带一路”倡议，以促进圣维森特海上经济特区的可持续发展。我们欢迎在互联互通、可再生能源、数字经济和旅游业领域的投资。蓝色经济为我们提供了通过技术转让、海洋资源管理和创造高技能就业岗位来开发海洋资源的机会。
In the health sector, we are working to expand access to medical services and professional training, and to reduce regional inequalities. China has supported Cape Verde by sending medical teams from Sichuan Province and funding maternity and pediatric services. We intend to deepen this cooperation by increasing the number of scholarships and strengthening epidemiological surveillance and the resilience of the healthcare system, particularly through the integration of traditional Chinese medicine.
在卫生领域，我们致力于扩大医疗服务和职业培训的覆盖范围，并减少地区间的不平等现象。中国通过派遣四川医疗队、资助产科和儿科建设等方式支持佛得角发展。我们将通过增加奖学金名额、加强流行病监测和卫生系统建设（特别是融合中医）等方式深化合作。
In the field of education, China has financed the Cape Verde University campus, supported the renovation of school infrastructure, and awarded scholarships for teacher training. In terms of security, cooperation has progressed with projects such as “Safe City,” supported by partners such as Huawei.
在教育领域，中国资助了佛得角大学校园建设，支持学校基础设施翻新，并提供了教师培训奖学金。在安全方面，通过华为等合作伙伴支持的“安全城市”等项目，合作取得了进展。
In 2024, Cape Verde participated in the FOCAC Summit under the auspices of the Prime Minister, committing to deepen a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. We wish to extend cooperation to new areas: energy and energy transition; the digital economy, support for start-ups and e-commerce; Developing Cape Verdean tourism, with a focus on presenting Cape Verde, the “Pearl of the Atlantic,” to Chinese tourists and investors, highlighting hospitality, cultural heritage, landscapes, and opportunities in the hotel, restaurant, and service sectors.
2024年，佛得角在总理的领导下参加了中非合作论坛峰会，承诺深化互利共赢的战略伙伴关系。我们希望将合作拓展至新领域：能源与能源转型；数字经济、初创企业支持与电子商务； 发展佛得角旅游业，重点向中国游客和投资者推介佛得角——“大西洋明珠”，彰显其热情好客、文化底蕴、壮丽风光以及酒店、餐饮和服务业带来的机遇。
Ladies and gentlemen, numbers tell only part of the story, but it is stories that transform lives: patients treated with dignity, students with promising futures, and communities benefiting from joint investments.

I reaffirm my commitment to closer cooperation based on accountability, transparency, and sustainability. I am convinced that dialogue between the media will be essential. The press plays a crucial role in building bridges between peoples, in seeking the truth, and in disseminating best practices.

I thank the organizers for this honor and reaffirm my commitment to working even more closely with China and the international press so that, together, we can promote peace, development, and friendship between Cape Verde, China, and the international community.
