First, on behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in China, I extend my congratulations on the successful celebration of the 24th anniversary of Home and Abroad News Press. I also offer my warmest congratulations to all the ambassadors honored as “Home and Abroad News Press – News Person of the Year 2025” tonight, and express my gratitude to my embassy and my staff for their support of my work. I sincerely thank Home and Abroad News Press for bestowing this honor upon me, and emphasize the vital role the media plays in fostering understanding and dialogue between governments and peoples. You are the communicators who bridge the distances between nations and illuminate the shared path toward cooperation and peace.

As is widely recognized, the media serves as the most significant third force, following government administration and legal regulations. As a leading international media outlet, Home and Abroad News Press has demonstrated over 24 years that the power of the media is immense.
众所周知，媒体是最重要的第三股力量，排在政府管理和法律规定之后。作为国际主流媒体，中外新闻社用24年证明了媒体的力量是巨大的。
Malawi is an African nation and a key member state of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Previously, Malawi exported tobacco and soybeans to China, resulting in a substantial bilateral trade deficit. Malawi's exports to China exceeded $2 million, while China's exports to Malawi surpassed $35 million. During my tenure as Ambassador to China, I hope to narrow this trade deficit. As China-Malawi cooperation deepens, I look forward to expanding collaboration in economic, trade, cultural, and educational sectors, achieving new developments in our bilateral relationship.
马拉维是一个非洲国家也是中非论坛一个重要的成员国。之前马拉维出口烟草和大豆到中国，以前的双边贸易赤字巨大，马拉维到中国的贸易额超过200万美元，但是中国对马拉维的出口超过3500万美元。我希望在我任驻华大使的期间，能够把这样的贸易赤字缩小, 随着中马合作不断深化，希望两国进一步扩大经贸、文化、教育等领域的合作，实现双边关系的新发展。
Over the past few years, Malawi and China have established a solid foundation for cooperation, achieving remarkable results particularly in infrastructure development, agricultural trade, education, and healthcare. Moving forward, Malawi hopes to leverage China's technological strengths and market potential to engage in broader and deeper cooperation across multiple sectors.
过去几年，马拉维与中国建立了坚实的合作基础，特别是在基础设施建设、农业贸易、教育和医疗等领域取得了显著成果，未来马拉维希望能够借助中国的技术优势和市场潜力，在多个领域与中国展开更广泛、更深层次的合作。
China's medical contributions to Malawi have also been highly effective. During the pandemic, we are grateful for the Chinese government's support to African nations. The Malawian government maintains frequent high-level exchanges with China. Over the past two years, there have been numerous high-level visits between our two countries. Our parliamentary delegations, as well as the President and Prime Minister, have visited China to participate in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. I hope relations between China and African nations will continue to flourish, and I wish China-Africa News Agency greater success in advancing ties between China and Africa. I also hope more Chinese enterprises will invest in Malawi to boost economic and trade exchanges between our two countries.
中国对马拉维的医学贡献也是卓有成效的，在疫情当中，也感谢中国政府对非洲各国的支援。马拉维政府对中国的高层互访不断，在过去的两年当中，两国之间的高层互访频繁，我们的国会代表团，国家主席和总理都有到访过中国，参加中非论坛。我希望中国和非洲各国之间的关系能够更加美好，也祝愿中外新闻社在推动中国与非洲之间的关系做出更伟大的贡献。希望有更多的中国企业能够到马拉维投资，促进两国之间的经贸往来。
Our cooperation with China in the infrastructure sector has yielded remarkable results. Chinese enterprises have constructed landmark buildings in Malawi, including the Parliament Building and the International Conference Center, while also providing us with comprehensive road and urban infrastructure. Furthermore, we hope China will deepen agricultural cooperation with Malawi, particularly in enhancing agricultural productivity and achieving agricultural modernization.
我们与中国在基础设施领域的合作成果显著。中国企业在马拉维建设了议会大厦、国际会议中心等标志性建筑，也为我们提供了完善的道路和城市基础设施。此外，我们也希望中国能够进一步深化与马拉维的农业合作，特别是在提高农业生产力和实现农业现代化方面。
Malawi is currently actively promoting agricultural mechanization and looks forward to enhancing yields and ensuring food security through technological cooperation with China, thereby better meeting the Chinese market's demand for Malawian agricultural products.
马拉维目前正在积极推动农业机械化，期待通过与中国的技术合作，提高产量、确保粮食安全，从而更好地满足中国市场对马拉维农业产品的需求。
Cultural exchange serves as a vital channel for deepening mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples. Since 2012, Malawi has become a popular destination for Chinese tourists. The country also seeks to attract more Chinese visitors through enhanced exchange programs, inviting them to experience Malawi's natural beauty and unique cultural heritage firsthand.
文化交流是加深两国人民之间理解和友谊的重要途径。自2012年以来，马拉维已成为中国游客的热门目的地，而该国也希望通过更多的交流活动吸引更多中国游客前来旅游，亲身体验马拉维的自然风光和独特文化。
Malawi has now implemented a visa-free policy for Chinese tourists, facilitating travel for Chinese citizens to Malawi. We also encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Malawi, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors, to promote two-way development in people-to-people exchanges and economic cooperation between our two nations.
我们马拉维目前已经对中国游客实行了免签政策，方便中国公民来马拉维旅游。我们还鼓励中国企业投资马拉维，尤其是旅游和酒店业，以推动两国民间交流和经济合作的双向发展。”
Cooperation between Malawi and China in education and healthcare has also yielded fruitful results. Malawi receives annual medical assistance from China, and through Chinese training programs, many Malawian doctors and healthcare workers have mastered advanced medical techniques. Malawi's Development Vision: Elevating the Malawi-China relationship to a strategic partnership will foster greater interaction between the two nations.
马拉维与中国在教育和医疗领域的合作同样成果丰硕。马拉维每年都接受着来自中国的医疗援助，通过中国的培训项目，许多马拉维的医生和医务工作者掌握了先进的医疗技术。马拉维发展愿景：马中关系提升为战略伙伴关系将为两国带来更多互动。
Last but not least, I wish you all the best in the coming Chinese New Year and a greater success of the Home and Abroad News Press in the coming years. And wish all the distinguished guests here today a pleasant evening and a prosperous year ahead.
