Ambassador of Pakistan to China H.E. Mr. Khalil Hashmi and his wife welcomed the invited guests one by one at the ambassador’s residence. President Wei Yan of Home and Abroad News Press extended her best wishes to Ambassador, and presented him with a copy of the recently published issue of Home and Abroad News magazine, featuring the May 18, 2026, article on Foreign Minister Wang Yi conferring the “Outstanding Diplomat Medal” upon Ambassador Hashmi, thanking him for his significant contributions to promoting China-Pakistan friendship, congratulated him on continuing to contribute to the friendship between China and Pakistan in his new important position, and welcomed him to return to China often to revisit the country and reunite with old friends.

哈什米阁下在招待会上致辞, 他对各界朋友在巴中友好关系发展中做出的贡献表示诚挚的谢意。他说, 巴中两国历史悠久、文化灿烂, 均为世界文明古国, 拥有5000年文明史。就任巴基斯坦驻华大使以来, 走访过中国多个城市, 留下了很多美好的记忆, 亲眼见证了中国的发展。特别是在中国改革开放以来, 中国的经济发展取得了令人瞩目的成就, 非常值得巴基斯坦学习借鉴。巴中建交75年, 友谊坚如磐石, 牢不可破。在每个重要时刻, 中国人民都怀着善意、设身处地为巴基斯坦人民着想。不管外界的变化和所面对的多重挑战, 巴中友谊是长久的和广阔的, 特别是在文化交流等方面。两国举办了一系列的文化交流活动, 使巴中两国民心更近更亲。
Ambassador Hashmi delivered a speech at the reception, in which he expressed his sincere gratitude to friends from all walks of life for their contributions to the development of China-Pakistan friendly relations. He said that both Pakistan and China have a long history and a rich cultural heritage; they are both ancient civilizations with a 5,000-year history. Since taking office as Pakistani Ambassador to China, he has visited many Chinese cities, where he has made many fond memories and witnessed China’s development firsthand. In particular, since the launch of China’s Reform and Opening-Up, China’s economic development has achieved remarkable accomplishments that are well worth Pakistan’s study and emulation. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, and our friendship remains as solid as a rock and unbreakable. At every critical moment, the Chinese people have shown goodwill and put themselves in the shoes of the Pakistani people. Regardless of external changes and the multiple challenges we face, the friendship between Pakistan and China is enduring and far-reaching, particularly in areas such as cultural exchange. The two countries have organized a series of cultural exchange activities, bringing the hearts and minds of the Pakistani and Chinese peoples closer together.

哈什米阁下1994年加入巴基斯坦外交部, 2007年, 在巴基斯坦驻纽约联合国代表团任职。2008年到2010年, 在北京大使馆担任双边职务。2012年到2016年, 再次任职于巴基斯坦驻纽约联合国代表团。2016年8月起, 担任巴基斯坦外交部总干事。2024年1月, 哈什米阁下在北京向习近平主席递交国书, 正式成为巴基斯坦驻华大使, 他在致辞中还特别感谢巴基斯坦前几任大使, 他们为巴中友好关系发展打下了坚实的基础, 进入20世纪90年代以来, 世界形势发生巨变, 巴友好合作关系经受国际风云变幻考验, 继续向前发展。
Ambassador Khalil Hashmi joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in 1994. In 2007, he served at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in New York. From 2008 to 2010, he held bilateral posts at the Embassy in Beijing. From 2012 to 2016, he served again at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in New York. Since August 2016, he has served as Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. In January 2024, he presented his credentials to President Xi Jinping in Beijing, officially becoming Pakistani Ambassador to China. In his remarks, he also expressed special gratitude to Pakistan’s previous ambassadors, who laid a solid foundation for the development of Pakistan-China friendly relations. Since the 1990s, the global landscape has undergone tremendous changes, the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Pakistan have withstood the test of shifting international circumstances and continued to move forward.

On September 9, Mrs. Shen Minjuan, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with the outgoing Ambassador Hashmi. She spoke highly of the contributions Hashmi made to advancing China-Pakistan relations during his tenure, noting that the China-Pakistan “All-weather strategic partnership” has continued to deepen and become more substantive under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries. She expressed China’s willingness to work with Pakistan to effectively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries and accelerate the building of a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

Ambassador Hashmi spoke highly of Pakistan-China relations, noting that during his tenure he had visited various parts of China, gaining a deeper understanding of the achievements of China’s modernization and a more profound grasp of China’s major concepts, such as the Community with a Shared Future for Mankind and the Four Major Global Initiatives. He expressed his hope to seize the opportunities brought about by China’s high-quality development and elevate Pakistan-China relations to a higher level.

The Pakistani Embassy in China is a good friend and partner of Home and Abroad News Press, and the two sides share deep bonds and close ties. These outstanding works served as a generous gift to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.
