斯里兰卡---全称斯里兰卡民主社会主义共和国（The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka），位于印度洋海上，英联邦成员国之一，有“宝石王国”、“印度洋上的明珠”的美称，被马可•波罗认为是最美丽的岛屿。
The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka is located in the Indian Ocean. It was a member of the British Commonwealth, known as “Gem Kingdom” and “the Pearl of the Indian Ocean”. Marco Polo considered it as the most beautiful island in the world.
8月2日下午4点，“见证友谊”--中外新闻社小记者2016暑期访问斯里兰卡驻华大使馆，莎妮•科丽尼若特尼•卡鲁纳若特尼（Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne)公使热情接待我们，斯里兰卡驻华大使卡鲁那塞纳•科迪图瓦库阁下出席我们的访问活动，并回答小记者们的提问。
At 4pm of August 2nd, “Witness Friendship” --- Home and Abroad News Press 2016 Summer Junior Journalist Delegation visited the Sri Lanka Embassy in China. The Deputy Chief of Mission-Minister Ms. Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne welcomed the delegation in the embassy. The Ambassador of Sri Lanka in China H.E. Mr. Karunasena Kodituwakku attended the interview and answered junior journalists’ questions.
“你好大使先生，我们都知道，斯里兰卡是英式教育国家，你曾担任过斯里兰卡国家教育、人力资源发展部部长，斯里兰卡与中国很多教育合作，如合作办学等。您能否和我们分享一些成功的合作经验？”赵雪萌小记者向大使提问。
“Hello, Mr. Ambassador, we all know that Sri Lanka follows British education system. You have served as the Minister of Education and Human Resources Development in Sri Lanka. In the recent years, Sri Lanka and China have a lot of cooperation in education field, such as cooperative education and so on. Can you share with us some successful cooperation experience between the two countries?” Zhao Xuemeng asked the first question to the Ambassador.
科迪图瓦库大使谈到，斯里兰卡有2500名学生在中国学习，其中有10％的学生由中国政府、省市资助，80％的学生是自费留学生，斯里兰卡学生的成绩都挺好的，在中国留学的留学生，他们大部分都聚集在天津；斯里兰卡的教育形式分为两种，一种是英式教育，一种是佛教；关于斯里兰卡的教育体制，大部分斯里兰卡人遵循来自英国的教育体制，仅有一小部分坚持佛教的教育体系。斯在国家也设立了许多外国语课程包括英日汉阿拉伯语等。斯里兰卡的公立高等教育学府不收取学生的任何费用。
Ambassador Kodituwakku said that here are about 2,500 Sri Lankan students studying in China now. 20% of them were supported by Chinese government or local municipalities, and other 80% were self-supported. They are doing well in their study here. Most of them are in Tianjing and surrounding cities. In Sri Lanka, the education methods are grouped into two main categories, British education and Buddhism education. In the Sri Lankan education system, most of its citizens follow the British education, only a small portion follows Buddhism practice. We also established foreign language programs, including English, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic etc. The higher education in Sri Lanka is free to all students.
小记者问：“斯里兰卡是印度洋上一个风光明媚的热带岛国。有“宝石王国”、“印度洋上的明珠”的美称。“文化三角”1978年被联合国教科文组织列入世界文化与自然遗产名录。但是对于很多中国学生而言，斯里兰卡依然是个很神奇的国度，请你谈谈斯里兰卡的文化？”
A journalist asked: “Sri Lanka is located in Southern Asia, the country is a scenic tropical island in the Indian Ocean. It is known as the "Gem Kingdom" and "the Pearl of the Indian Ocean". "The Cultural Triangle" was named in the World’s Natural Heritage List the UNESCO in 1978. To many Chinese students, Sri Lanka is still a very mysterious country, can you please introduce about Sri Lankan culture?”
大使首先肯定这是一个很好的问题。他向小记者们介绍斯里兰卡拥有8项世界遗产，其中文化遗产7项，自然遗产1项。这个国度的风景与神秘文化无法用语言表达，需要小记者们亲身经历才能了解。
Mr. Ambassador said this is a very good question. He introduced to the junior journalists that Sri Lanka has 8 world heritages, including 7 cultural heritages and one natural heritage. The country has incredible sceneries and mystery culture. Junior journalists have to go there and experience in order to feel the charms of Sri Lanka.
小记者了解到斯里兰卡是节假日最多的国家，问到斯里兰卡的传统节日与旅游的最佳时间时，科迪图瓦库大使告诉我们，节假日众多是因为各个民族宗教信仰决定。国家有众多种群，政府十分尊重各个民族节日。他自豪的告诉我们斯里兰卡四季如春，因此每天都是到斯旅游的季节。
“Sri Lanka has the most holidays in the world. What are the important traditional holidays in Sri Lanka every year? If we want to visit Sri Lanka, when is the best season to travel?” The Ambassador told us that the different holidays are determined by different religions and cultures. Sri Lanka has a variety of ethnic groups, and the government respects to all of them. He proudly said that Sri Lanka is spring-like for all seasons; as a result, you can go and visit there any time you wish.”
提问环节过后，小记者向大使先生赠送精心准备的礼物，作为回报，斯里兰卡大使馆工作人员也为小记者们提供了美味的斯里兰卡小吃。斯里兰卡的歌舞是这个国家民族文化、宗教、习俗的集中体现，斯里兰卡大使馆的舞蹈老师教小记者们跳斯里兰卡康提舞，舞蹈者随手机传出的鼓乐，小记者认真学习，四肢和身体做各种旋转，一时间，小记者们感受到在斯里兰卡大使馆很温暖、很快乐。
After the interview, the junior journalists presented their gifts to the ambassador. As a return, the ambassador especially asked the embassy staffs to prepare delicious Sri Lankan snacks and tea for all delegation members. Sri Lanka is also famous for its national dance that contains its unique culture, religions and customs. Sri Lankan dance teachers showed and taught the delegation the Kandy dance. All junior journalists had so much fun in learning this beautiful dance with their shaking bodies. Once again, we all felt the warmth and joy in the Sri Lankan embassy.
