March 17th, Home and Abroad News Press “New Coronavirus Epidemic Prevention and Control --- Dialogue with Foreign Ambassadors to China” serial interviews came to the Beninese embassy in China. The President of Home and Abroad News Press Mrs. Wei Yan had in-depth dialogue with the Ambassador of the Republic of Benin to China, H.E. Mr. Simon Adoveland. The first thing he said was that what I have seen with my own eyes -- China is the greatest country in the world!
大使说，这次中国在面对疫情所做的一切是世界上任何一个国家都没有能力做到的，我一直在中国，不是道听途说，而是亲身感受、亲眼所见，我见证了中国政府在整个疫情期间出色的作为。在今天的世界，我们更看到了中国的能力和担当，贝宁政府和人民，对中国政府采取有力措施战胜疫情充满信心。千百年来, 中国历经无数挑战和考验, 总能化险为夷。相信中国一定能消除疫情造成的严重后果, 恢复安宁祥和。
The ambassador said that what China has done in the face of the novel coronavirus epidemic is beyond the capacity of any other country in the world. I have stayed in China since the beginning of the epidemic outbreak, and I have witnessed the outstanding reactions of the Chinese government during the whole epidemic. In today's world, we also see China's ability and responsibility. The government and people of Benin are confident that the Chinese government will take effective measures to overcome the epidemic. For thousands of years, China has gone through numerous challenges and tests, and has always been able to survive. I believe that China will certainly eliminate the serious consequences of the epidemic and restore peace and tranquility.
大使谈到，在这疫情期间，有很多的假新闻，我们也看了很多国外的媒体对中国的报道，有时候，两种不同的声音都让我觉得是不是在说同一个中国，所以我们希望外国的媒体和国际社会澄清一些事实后才报道。一直以来，国外都试着否定中国的领导地位，可是这次疫情发生以后，我相信国际社会看到了一个真实的中国。习近平主席提出的“构建人类命运共同体”的理念发挥得淋漓尽致。
The ambassador also mentioned that during this epidemic period, there were many fake news and information. We have seen many news about China from the foreign media channels, sometimes, with two completely different voices. We were wondering if they are talking about the same China. Therefore, we hope the foreign media and international community can clarify the facts for those news reports. For such long time, foreign countries have always denied China’s leadership in the world; however, after this epidemic, I believe that the whole world will see a real China. This will make President Xi Jinping's concept of "Building a Community of Shared Future for Mankind " more incisive.

As the ambassador to China, I believe you can personally feel the firm determination and willingness of the Chinese government and people to fight against the epidemic outbreak through TV, Internet and other media.
对新型冠状病毒感染的疫情关注焦点，西蒙大使谈到，这对我来说是一个很好的机会，可以住在中国并体验COVID-19的爆发。这是学习中国人民抗击疫情的经验，中国国家主席习近平和中共中央展现出强大的领导能力，能够及时做出重要的、重大的决定、并动员全国抗击该病毒，他们不仅保护自己的人民，而且也在保护全世界的人民。
“What is your focus of attention on the epidemic situation of novel coronavirus infection in China?” Ambassador answered that it’s a great opportunity for me to live in China and experience the COVID-19 outbreak. This is also a lesson-learning experience. China’s President Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee demonstrate a strong leadership capacity to take major important decisions on time and mobilize the country against the coronavirus. Not only they protected their people, but they protected the world population.
对中国同国际社会加强合作，共同应对疫情，维护全球公共卫生安全有哪些建议？西蒙大使谈到，当前新冠肺炎疫情正在全球多个国家蔓延扩散，中国政府及社会各界力量积极参与抗疫国际合作，向有关国家和国际组织提供力所能及的帮助，推动构建人类命运共同体。互通疫情信息是国际社会整体抗疫斗争的重要一环，希望中国同世界各国继续开展抗疫经验的分享和交流。
“What are your proposals for strengthening cooperation between China and the international community to jointly respond to this epidemic emergency and maintain global public health and safety?” Ambassador expressed that the novel coronavirus is spreading to many countries around the world, and Chinese government and all walks of life are actively involved in international cooperation to fight against the pandemic, providing necessary assistance to other countries and international organizations to promote the construction of a shared community of all human. Sharing epidemic information is an important part of the global efforts to fight against the epidemic. We are calling China to take the lead to share their experiences with all the countries who are facing the battle against the virus.
“作为驻华大使，你是否及时了解到新型冠状病毒感染的疫情准确、全面的信息通报，并做好外交系统疫情防控？”记者问。
“As the Ambassador to China, do you receive the accurate and comprehensive information about the epidemic situation of novel coronavirus infection in time? What do you do to prevent and control the epidemic situation through the diplomatic system?” we asked.

“I was amazed by how effective and clear Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ communication with all foreign diplomats in China. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Minister of Foreign Affairs Whang Yi and all his team for their assistance and support that allow us to go through this difficult time with confidence and assurance. As we abide and follow the rules and instructions of Chinese government so that all of us can stay safe and happy.”
最后，西蒙大使希望中外新闻社和其他的媒体及时的把中国的经验分享给其他国家。也可以让国外的媒体看看国内媒体在对抗疫情时期的表现。只有在困难的时候，我们才能知道谁是真正的朋友，“患难见真情”。
Lastly, Ambassador hoped that Home and Abroad News Press and other media can timely and accurately share Chinese experience in fighting against the coronavirus with other countries and let the Western media to see how Chinese media contributing in this hard battle.
