2024年1月29日，中外新闻社在北京天坛饭店宴会厅举行“见证友谊”-2024寒假访问外国驻华使馆小记者团（小小外交官）开团仪式。外交部原副部长助理马德强先生，联合国国际合作协调局副局长、中外新闻社总裁韦燕，中外新闻社执行社长刘登臣，中外新闻社副总裁张珈闻，中外新闻社副社长陈熹等领导出席。来自澳门、广东、北京、上海、江苏、河北、湖北、浙江、吉林等近20多名小记者经过“海选”参加中外新闻社小记者团。

外交部原副部长助理马德强先生、联合国国际合作协调局副局长兼新闻部部长、中外新闻社总裁韦燕在台上挥动小记者团团旗，之后交给小记者团团长刘乐奕，然后小记者列队出征。1月30日起将采访土耳其、爱沙尼亚、古巴、津巴布韦、毛里求斯、摩尔多瓦、马耳他、阿塞拜疆等8国驻华使馆大使和外交官。
