January 31st, Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met Edward Royce, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives and his delegation at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li Keqiang said that China and US relationship has great strategic significance and global influence. The key to develop mutual respects and achieving mutual benefit in a win-win partnership is to properly deal with the “both-side benefits”. On the one hand, the two countries should take good care of their core interests, which are the basis for the solid development of the bilateral relations. Do more things to enhance mutual trust and minimize the conflicts and disagreements. On the other hand, to develop and expand the common interests of both sides, that is the cornerstone of bilateral relations. Given the solid foundation and enhanced cornerstone, we will be able to achieve more remarkable success for China and US relations. Hope that the U.S. Congress will play a constructive role in these areas.
Li pointed out that China and the United States are at different stages of development, the two countries have more complementariness than competitiveness. Both countries can receive mutual benefits through a win-win cooperation partnership in which the common interests could be significantly compounded. The politicians of the two countries should strive for enterprises and local cooperation and create better environments for cultural exchanges with less barriers and more supports. As a result, more potentials can be realized from the cooperation between China and the United States.
The members from the U.S. Republican and Democratic parties spoke one by one and they all expressed that US and China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world, the U.S. Republican and Democratic parties are actively supporting the development of US and China relationships. Both sides should strengthen dialogue at all levels, deepen cooperation and make greater contributions to peace and stability for the prosperity and development of the two countries and the world.
