首先，我想对中外新闻社社长韦燕女士表示衷心的感谢，感谢她提名詹姆斯•基莫尼奥阁下成为2024年中外新闻社“年度新闻人物”奖的获得者。我谨代表卢旺达驻华大使詹姆斯•基莫尼奥阁下转达他的热烈问候，并对受邀参加此次年度活动表示诚挚的感谢。
Firstly, l would like to express my gratitude to the President of Home and Abroad News Press Ms. Wei Yan for nominating Ambassador James Kimonyo to be one of the prize winners of 2024 “Home and Abroad News Press – News Person of the Year”. On behalf of the Ambassador of Rwanda to China H.E. Mr. James Kimonyo, I would like to convey his warm greetings and express his sincere appreciation for the invitation to this annual event.
中国中外新闻社23年来，利用国际媒体的有利平台，在国际社会舞台上积极推动各国的友好合作，实现共赢, 为世界和平、稳定与发展注入正能量，在促进我们各自国家与中国之间的关系方面发挥了关键作用。
Over the past 23 years, China Home and Abroad News Press has utilized the advantageous platform of international media to actively promote friendship and cooperation in the international community to achieve win-win situation, create positive energy for world peace, stability and development, and play a pivotal role in fostering relations between our respective countries and China through various initiatives.
2024年5月14日，卢旺达共和国驻华大使詹姆斯•基莫尼奥一行到访中国传媒大学，大使与现场师生就中卢关系、媒体的社会作用等话题作了互动交流，期待在推进中国与卢旺达在中非合作论坛机制下的高等教育领域、传媒领域的交流与合作。
On May 14, 2024, Ambassador James Kimonyo visited Communication University of China and his delegation. The Ambassador had interactive exchanges with teachers and students on China and Rwandan relations, the role of media in society, and other topics, and looked forward to advancing the exchanges and cooperation in higher education and media between China and Rwanda under the mechanism of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
近年来，卢中合作取得了实实在在的成果，特别是在减贫、基础设施建设等领域。中国已成为卢旺达最大的贸易伙伴之一，两国在农业、绿色发展、数字化等领域合作不断深化。共建‘一带一路’合作为卢旺达完善基础设施、促进可持续发展发挥了重要作用。
In recent years, Rwandan-Chinese cooperation has achieved tangible results, especially in the areas of poverty reduction and infrastructure development. China has become one of Rwanda's largest trading partners, and the two countries have deepened cooperation in agriculture, green development, digitalization and other areas. Cooperation in building the 'Belt and Road' has played an important role in improving infrastructure and promoting sustainable development in Rwanda.
媒体是现代社会传播信息、开展交流、促进了解和友谊的重要载体，在推动两国传统友谊、实现中卢合作发展方面将发挥重要作用。中卢两国媒体首次相聚开展对话活动，目的就在于搭建交流、沟通的平台，通过积极对话不断凝聚共识，通过具体项目不断促进合作，共同努力落实好两国元首达成的共识，发挥媒体在促进两国人民加深了解、加强互信和增进友谊方面的重要作用。
The media is an important vehicle for information dissemination, communication, promoting mutual understanding and friendship in modern society, and will play an important role in promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries and realizing the development of China and Rwanda cooperation. The media of China and Rwanda are meeting for the first time to carry out dialogue activities with the aim of building a platform for exchanges and communications, building consensus through active dialogues, promoting cooperation through concrete projects, making joint efforts to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and giving full play to the important role of the media in promoting deeper understanding, mutual trust and friendship between the people of the two countries.
卢旺达位于非洲中东部，境内多山，有“千丘之国”之称。1994年后举国上下深刻反思，励精图治，奋力前行。目前政局长期稳定，经济快速增长，社会治安良好。实行开放的经济政策，绝大部分领域都欢迎外资进入，货币兑换相对自由，外汇进出不受限制，是东非地区营商环境最好的国家之一，对水利、电 力、通信、公路等基础设施建设需求较大，未来发展有着广阔的空间。此外政府通过支持创新驱动型企业成长以及创造有利的商业环境等创新方式，积极寻求实现可持续发展目标的数字解决方案，加速本国数字化发展和转型。
Rwanda is located in the central and eastern part of Africa, and its territory is mountainous, known as “the country of a thousand hills”. after 1994, the whole country has deeply reflected on the situation, and has been making great efforts to move forward. At present, the political situation has been stable for a long time, the economy is growing rapidly and social security is good. With an open economic policy, foreign investment is welcome in most fields, currency exchange is relatively free, and there is no restriction on foreign exchange, making it one of the countries with the best business environment in East Africa. There is a great demand for infrastructure construction such as water conservancy, electricity, communication and highway, and there are huge potentials for future development. In addition, the government is actively seeking digital solutions to achieve the SDGs and accelerating the country's digital development and transformation by supporting the growth of innovation-driven enterprises and creating a conducive business environment, among other innovations.
今天，我们大使被入选中国主流媒体—中外新闻社年度新闻人物是一项令人难以置信的荣誉，如果没有这样的良好合作，就不可能获得更多的资讯，我们期待继续同中外新闻社合作，通过中外新闻社和其他中国媒体进一步增进我们的关系。
Today, It is an incredible honor for our Ambassador to be selected as the News Person of the Year by Home and Abroad News Press.
