以色列共和国驻华大使、前国家安全部部长马腾先生2012年8月24日抵达北京，正式上任以色列共和国驻华大使一职。目前，中国是以色列唯一一个派出部长级官员出任现任大使的国家。
The former National Security Minister, Mr. Matan Vilnai arrived in Beijing on August 24th, 2012 and officially become the Ambassador of the Republic of Israel to China. Currently, China is the only country where Israel has appointed its incumbent ministers as the ambassador.
马腾大使还曾担任过以色列科技、文化和体育部部长、以色列国防部副部长和以色列国防军副总参谋长等重要职位。在纪念以中建交20周年之际，本刊记者拜会了马腾先生，他说：“我为以中两国之间牢固的关系感到尤为自豪。两国关系的发展潜力依然巨大。我感到任重道远。”
Ambassador Matan also served in many important positions in Israel before, such as the Minister of Technology, Culture and Sports, the Deputy Minister of National Defense and the Deputy Chief of IDF. In the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel, Home and Abroad News Press journalists had an exclusive interview with Mr. Matan Vilnai. He told us that: "I am proud for the strong relationship between Israel and China. There is great potential for both countries to discover in the future. I feel it is a long way to go!"

“大使先生你好，请你谈谈对中国的印象。”记者谈到。
"Good morning, Mr. Ambassador. Please share your thoughts about China." We asked.
“我到中国，我发现中国体育很强，中国在奥运会上得到很多奖牌。中国不仅仅是一个国家，中国其实是一个洲--亚洲，我到过中国的二十多个城市，看到大家都在努力的工作，以此来改善自己的命运。所以中国发展很快。”马腾大使说。
"I came to China and found that China is very good at sports. I found a strong sporting environment and many great athletes in China who won countless gold medals from various competitions and games. China is not just a country; it is indeed a continent - Asia. I have been to over two dozen cities in China; I can see that the Chinese people are very hard working for improving their destiny. As a result, China has experienced rapid development in many areas." the Ambassador answered.
以色列国家没有石油、没有森林，有的只是大脑的智慧。记者问：“大使先生，请问引导你们国家发展的能量是什么？你们犹太人的智慧蕴含最可贵的东西又是什么？”马腾大使有趣地微笑着说：“这个问题是没有答案的，我们有时候也是自己问自己，但是没有答案。”
Israel does not have cruel oil, forests or rich natural resources, but the Israeli people have priceless wisdom. We asked: "Mr. Ambassador, what is the secret for Israel's national development? Why are Jews so smart?" The Ambassador smiled and said: "There is no answer to this question, we sometimes also asked the same question to ourselves but we couldn't get the answer as well."
打开世界地图，如果不细心察看你很难找到以色列的所在。这个人口700万、实际控制2.5万平方公里土地的国家，半个多世纪以来面对10倍于己的敌人，历经5次中东战争而不倒，堪称奇迹。
On the world map, you have to look so carefully to find where Israel is. This country only has 7 million populations in about 25,000 square kilometers land; however, it fight with 10 times enemies in the past half century. After five Middle East wars, the country never failed. That is truly a miracle.

We were really impressed by Mr. Matan's diplomatic demeanor. At the end of the interview, we wished him enjoy his work and life in China.
