8月5日上午10点，中外新闻社小记者采访牙买加驻华大使拉尔夫·托马斯阁下。大使先生首先欢迎小记者们的到访，他请小记者一边品尝牙买加点心一边提问。小记者问：大使先生你好，牙买加位于加勒比海西北部，离中国很远很远，却是一个充满活力的国家。作为牙买加驻华大使，你是为传承中牙两国宝贵友谊而来，你将如何为未来中牙关系健康发展贡献自己的智慧和力量？特别是在推进两国青少年交流方面。
10 am on August 5th, Home and Abroad News Press 2015 Summer Junior Journalist Delegation visited the Jamaican embassy in China and had an exclusive interview with the Jamaican Ambassador to China, H.E. Mr. Ralph Thomas. Mr. Ambassador personally welcomed and prepared delicious Jamaican desserts for all junior journalists. In the interview, the junior journalist asked: “Hello, Mr. Ambassador! Jamaica is located in the northwest Caribbean Sea, very far away from China, but it is a country full of vitality. As the Jamaican Ambassador in China, how will you continue developing the established diplomatic relations and the precious friendship between the two countries? How will you contribute your wisdom and experience to further develop the Jamaica and China’s relations, especially in promoting youth exchanges between the two countries?”

大使说，我是牙买加驻华大使馆第三任大使，前两任大使为中牙友好关系作了很多推动工作。就像你们一样，你们现在是小大使，今天的采访，就是在促进两国友好关系。我有两个孩子，女儿15岁，儿子12岁，推进两国青少年交流是我工作生活中重要的内容，我注重和中国的青少年交朋友，我认为，友好的交往可以促进两国友好关系。
Ambassador Thomas answered: “I’m the third Jamaican ambassador to China. The previous two ambassadors have done a lot of works to promote China and Jamaica’s relationship and friendship. Just like all of you, you are the little ambassadors because you are also promoting the friendship between the two countries today. I have two children, my daughter is 15 years old and my son is 12 years old. How to promote youth exchange between China and Jamaica has become one of my key work focuses. I really attached great importance to the youth exchanges with Chinese teenagers. I think, the friendly exchange will help the two countries continuously develop a good friendly relationship.”

有小记者问：牙买加是一个体育强国，而且在田径方面非常出色，伦敦奥运会上以4金、4银、4铜，赢得了第十八名。截至2012年底，牙买加著名短跑健将博尔特已经取得了17枚金牌，包括6枚奥运会金牌和打破了7项世界纪录。请问：牙买加政府在体育事业发展方面做出了哪些努力？国民的体育素质提升程度怎样？
Another junior journalist asked: “Jamaica is also a sports country with a lot of excellent athletics. In the London Olympics, Jamaica received 4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals, ranked at the 18th place. By the end of 2012, the famous Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has achieved 17 gold medals, including 6 Olympic gold medals and broke 7 world records. I want to ask you: what efforts the Jamaican government has made in the sports development in the country? How do the Jamaican people enhance the physical quality through the government programs?”

“牙买加政府在体育事业发展方面非常重视，从小孩子就开始培养，政府认为，发展国家，不仅仅需要精明的头脑，更需要一个健康的身体，牙买加体育学校教练员、运动员1948年以来，不断地取得好成绩，在国际上获得很多金牌。
“Jamaican government really values and emphasizes sports. We educate children to play sports since they are young. The government believes that a healthy nation is not only about smart brains but also strong physical bodies. Since 1948, Jamaican athletes and coaches have achieved a number of remarkable accomplishments and many golden medals around the world.”

    托马斯大使还一一回答小记者的提问。托马斯谈到，自2013年7月到中国以来，在经济、社会、文化、政治以及公共外交等领域深化我们中牙两国关系，我都有幸有机会参与其中。大使工作让我都有机会亲眼目睹中国发展的巨大成果，我非常喜欢这个充满活力的国家。
    Ambassador Thomas answered the questions one by one. He also shared that since he came to China in July 2013, he contributed and participated many projects that deepened the relationship between China and Jamaica in various fields, including economical social, cultural, political and public relation areas. He highly appraised the great development achievements in China, and he really likes this energetic country.

    采访结束，杨秉翰小记者饶有兴趣的现场传播中国传统文化--表演“山东快板”，一时间引来多位牙买加外交官现场观看，离别时表示：中外新闻社小记者让他们度过了一段美好的时光。
    Before the end of the interview, a junior journalist Yang Binghan made a Chinese traditional talk show to spread the unique Chinese culture in the Jamaican embassy. All junior journalists expressed their unforgettable experience in the embassy after the interview.
