里卡多•莱昂2015年1月22日向中国国家主席习近平递交国书，正式成为哥斯达黎加驻华大使。上任后，里卡多•莱昂大使迅速整合哥斯达黎加各机构的力量并形成合力，指出哥斯达黎加在农业贸易、清洁能源等领域有着独特优势和发展潜力。2年时间，里卡多•莱昂不停地穿梭于中国各个城市寻求合作商机，经贸关系发展迅速，2016年1-8月，哥斯达黎加对中国贸易逆差12.0亿美元，增长2.6%。目前，中国已成为哥斯达黎加第二大贸易伙伴。

Mr. Ricardo Leon submitted the credentials to the Chinese President Xi Jinping on January 22, 2015 and officially became Costa Rica Ambassador to China. After taking office, Ambassador Ricardo Leon made a rapid integration of various Costa Rican sectors and institutions to position Costa Rica’s unique advantage and potential in the areas of agricultural trade and clean energy. In the past two years, Ricardo Leon traveled in various cities in China to seek cooperation opportunities; as a result, China and Costa Rica’s trade relations was developed rapidly. Costa Rica on China's trade deficit of 1.2 billion USD from January to August 2016, an increase of 2.6%. Currently, China has become Costa Rica's second largest trading partner.
